Placed to 320 km to the south of Addis Abeba, in the road that leads from Shashemene to Sodo, it has an altitude between 2.020m and 2.120m and has a surface of 58 km2 with a typical habitat of savannah.
The park has the largest concentration of alcelaphus Swayne, making it a safe place to see this mammal. We can find other mammals such as hyena, serval, civet cats, caracal lynx, jackal, kudu, wild boar, antelope and Bohor redunca reed beds. As referred to birds we can find over 90 species.
